Women Leading Well: A celebration of collective power and transformation

Melissa Pitotti, CEO of Facilitating the Future shares an update on the Women Leading Well initiative and up-coming System Changer Sleepover.

Something extraordinary is happening.

Humanitarian women in Geneva and beyond are coming together, not just to lead, but to lead well. This year, their energy and commitment have been palpable at key moments:

In October, the "Women in Humanitarian Leadership: Strategies and Solidarity" event confirmed the power of women supporting each other. January’s "Pathfinders" cohort embraced the 10 Leading Well practices and began monthly Mastermind sessions, sharing struggles and strategies. On International Women’s Day, the fabulous Catherine Hubert Girod led a walking tour of Geneva from a humanitarian woman’s perspective, followed by a networking lunch at a woman-owned establishment. In May, the conversation expanded at the Humanitarian Networks and Partnerships Weeks (HNPW), reaching even more leaders in our sector. Self Care Spring, which brought women together from around the world to consider chronic stressors like motherhood, menopause and money, concluded in June.

These gatherings have sparked something transformational. Women are sharing wisdom, laughter, and strength—women who know they are part of something bigger than themselves. Together, we’re finding community, hope, and purpose, realizing we don’t have to choose between making a difference and caring for ourselves. We can—and we are—doing both.

Now this momentum builds toward our most exciting step yet: the System Changer Sleepover. This retreat, to be held after AidEx from 25-27 October, is more than a break. It’s a celebration of who we are becoming as leaders. It’s where we’ll reflect, recharge, and reshape our vision for leadership—and for the systems we aim to change.
