unlocking telework for refugees: 8 multi-sector policy recommendations

This research initiative in collaboration with the the TASC Platform, the Centre for Trade and Economic Integration (CTEI) and the Geneva Trade Platform engaged 25 organizations and 15 Swiss-based Ukrainian refugees to investigate how digital employment can offer new pathways to security and prosperity for refugees.

Addressing barriers such as digital upskilling, legal frameworks, and recognition of qualifications, the research proposes eight targeted policy recommendations across key sectors—governmental, NGO, private, and international organizations. These recommendations highlight the importance of collaboration across various sectors to enhance the accessibility and sustainability of digital employment opportunities for refugees and paves the way for a more unified and effective approach to integrating refugees into the digital workforce.

This research project and its resulting two workshops were made possible by the generous support of Mr. Sergei Popov.
