VIRTUAL EVENT
This event is the second in our new ‘TASC Break’ series, where the TASC Platform hosts short and informal session to share new insights and meet the people behind the papers.
On 24 March, we are thrilled to hand the reins to three of our TASC Future Leaders – Fabiola Maza, Amy Nguyen and Michelle Olguin, Masters students in International Affairs at the Graduate Institute Geneva, to present the findings of their Capstone Project “Crowdwork and the Trade Regime: Opportunities and Challenges”, conducted in partnership with the International Labour Organisation.
Data regulation, taxation, jurisdiction and competition are some of the main debates that could shape future platforms and business models, as well as forms of work. This report is focused on the current debates in the trade regime that impact crowdworking platforms, and how some domestic regulations are dealing with it. Although most of the academic concerns regarding crowdworking platforms are related to the labour standards, the trade regime imposes some challenges to the development of these technologies as a source of employment.
Amy, Fabiola and Michelle will share their highlights from the report, followed by an open Q&A and discussion.
