Empowering Tech: Embracing Professor Gudela Grote’s Vision of Inclusive Innovation

This March 8th, in honor of International Women's Day, we spotlight a pivotal moment for the TASC Platform with the appointment of Professor Gudela Grote as our Co-Chair. Professor Grote will join Professor Cédric Dupont to jointly provide strategic direction to the Platform’s work. As professor of Work and Organizational Psychology at ETH Zurich's Department of Management, Technology, and Economics, Professor Grote embodies the profound influence women can exert in the realms of technology and Artificial Intelligence (AI).

With a focus on integrating psychological principles into job, organizational and technology design alongside deep-rooted expertise in accountability and AI,, Professor Grote’s research addresses how we can empower people with the tools and mindsets to manage the evolving demands of technology, economy and society.

Championing Diversity and Inclusion in Tech

Professor Grote's career exemplifies the critical role of women in tech, particularly in fostering interdisciplinary collaboration to address the multifaceted challenges posed by AI. As a champion for the role of social sciences in technology and innovation, she advocates for a holistic approach to managing AI’s societal implications. In addition, through exploring the role of intergenerational work as we face demographic shifts in the workforce and longer working lives, Professor Grote calls for employment models that are both adaptive and inclusive.

Through the TASC Platform, she aims to continue to drive a more inclusive dialogue that encompasses regulatory, developmental, and ethical considerations.

Embracing Uncertainty with Resilience

Professor Grote shares the TASC Platforms special interest in the increasing flexibility and virtuality of work, and positions uncertainty not as a hurdle but as a catalyst for innovation and growth. Through the lens of the COVID-19 pandemic's impact on accelerating remote work, Professor Grote’s work illustrates how adaptability in the face of uncertainty can lead to unforeseen opportunities, reinforcing the value of resilience and open-mindedness in the modern workforce.

But don’t take our word for it! Tune into the latest TASC Takes podcast below to join Professor Grote on an insightful exploration into how artificial intelligence (A.I.) reshapes notions of accountability and control, both in workplaces and the broader societal context. Drawing from her extensive background in work and organizational psychology, she provides a unique perspective on the challenges and opportunities that A.I. presents.

Through Professor Grote's role at the TASC Platform, we aim to contribute to the global shift towards highlighting the indispensable contributions of women to the tech industry and the broader quest for equitable and responsible technological development. The TASC Platform's team wishes a warm welcome on board to Professor Gudela Grote as she will most certainly inspire for inclusive innovation where diverse perspectives are not only heard but are instrumental in shaping the Future of Work.
