The UN Economist Network, in association with several leading international academic networks, invites you to the next session in its global book webinar series, featuring Professor Ha-Joon Chang on the theme of pluralism in economics.
At a time when economic thinking is being tested by overlapping social, environmental, and geopolitical pressures, this conversation will explore why methodological openness and intellectual diversity matter—and what a more pluralist economics might offer to research, teaching, and policymaking.
As a basis for his remarks, Professor Chang will draw on his 2024 interview in the Erasmus Journal for Philosophy and Economics. The session will be moderated by James K. Galbraith, Lloyd M. Bentsen Jr. Chair in Government/Business Relations and Professor of Government at the University of Texas at Austin.
Reflections will be offered by Irene van Staveren, Professor of Pluralist Development Economics at Erasmus University Rotterdam, and Pedro Conceicao, Director of the Human Development Report Office, UNDP.
